Livingston County Board Vice-Chairman Steve Lovell gave a county update to local leaders gathered Monday during the Livingston County Farm Bureau's annual Legislative Breakfast.

He explained ordinance amendments on wind and solar are ongoing in committee and he also touched on data centers, which are a new topic to the county. Lovell said ordinances need to be put into place as to what the county is and is not going to do.

Lovell explained the Panther Grove II wind farm is under development in the southwest corner of the county while Heritage Prairie is in the northeast part of the county.

Talk then turned to the ongoing roof project at the historic Livingston County Courthouse in downtown Pontiac which should be completed later this year. The clock tower had to be rebuilt.

"It's been an educational process," said Lovell.

Pontiac Mayor Kelly Eckhoff thanked the county for keeping the historical courthouse building preserved.
