The Illinois General Assembly is set to return to Springfield on Tuesday for the fall veto session.

Lawmakers are scheduled to meet for three days this coming week and then another three days during the last week of the month.

While the legislative leaders have yet to announce an agenda for the fall session, State Representative Jason Bunting (R-Emington) said it’s really hard to say what will be brought up, but one item that is moving forward is the Green New Deal energy bill. He added that the new bill would place more mandates on rate hikes to consumers, all in the name green energy.

Bunting said “the energy issue is the one that seems to be moving toward legislation the quickest, but that's just based on the fact we've seen some subject matter hearings on legislation. Any of it, I guess, could pop up, but it may also have to wait till the spring.”

The first week of the legislative session (October 14-16) is expected to see a lot of caucusing behind closed doors to discuss tightly controlled legislative packages.  Votes on those matters could follow during the second week (October 28-30).
