The Livingston County Regional Planning Commission has voted down the application for a proposed mineral extraction site.

Illinois Cement Company, LLC of LaSalle had planned the site on 80 acres of agricultural land southeast of east 1000 North Road and east of 1700 East Road in unincorporated Chenoa.

An application submitted to the county states the company wants to purchase the land to mine for mineral limestone and will preserve black dirt on site and reclaim the property in accordance with applicable law at the end of the mining process.

“The reclaimed property will be attractive recreational use property, consistent with other reclamation projects in the vicinity,” states the application. “As part of the extraction process, the limestone will be crushed to a size suitable for transport (approximately 6”).”

Since the application was voted down, the company will not appear before the county’s Zoning Board of Appeals. They could return after addressing complaints raised by neighbors at last Monday’s meeting and provide further materials.
