Enforcement results announced

The Bloomington Police Department announced it issued 36 citations for distracted driving violations and conducted 244 traffic stops during April's Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign.


Additional citations were issued for the following violations:


DUI - 1


Seatbelt - 3


Speeding - 97


Other - 39


"I am proud and grateful for the officers who volunteered to support our traffic safety enforcement efforts throughout the City of Bloomington. Their work reflects our ongoing commitment to reducing distracted and reckless driving, improving roadway safety, and preventing crash-related injuries," stated Chief Jamal Simington. "These enforcement details are an important part of protecting our community, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring a safer, more livable city for our residents and visitors."


The Bloomington Police Department joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort. The Illinois distracted driving campaign was funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
