Fatal Bloomington fire investigated

A fatal fire in Bloomington remains under investigation.

Bloomington firefighters responded to the structure fire in the 1300 block of West Elm Street Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, heavy smoke was observed along with fire coming from the attic of the single-story residence.

During the search, a man was discovered inside the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

The residence sustained extensive damage and is considered a total loss.

An investigation continues by the Bloomington Fire Department, Bloomington Police and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
