Fatal wreck investigated near Cooksville

A multiple vehicle collision resulted in fatalities Sunday near Cooksville.


McLean County Coroner Dr. Kathleen Yoder reports there were two fatalities on the scene of the wreck at the intersection of Route 9 and 2600 East Road shortly before 3 p.m.


A 58-year-old woman from Ellsworth, the driver and sole occupant of an SUV, and an 82-year-old woman of Millbrae, California, the rear occupant of a passenger van, were pronounced dead on the scene. Additional passengers in the van were transported to area hospitals.


The incident and case of the collision remain under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.


Agencies responding in addition to the McLean County Coroner included McLean County Sheriff’s Police, Illinois State Police, Ellsworth Fire, Cooksville Fire, LeRoy Ambulance, Gibson Area EMS and Bloomington Fire.
