A two-vehicle crash near Cullom claimed the life of a Fairbury man Friday morning.
Livingston County Coroner Michael E. Renner reports John C. Traub, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy was pending as of Friday afternoon.
Authorities say Traub was driving a Ford Ranger pickup northbound on 3300 East Road approaching Route 116 when, according to witnesses, he failed to stop at the intersection and pulled onto Route 116 where he was struck by an eastbound semi tractor trailer.
“Traub’s vehicle came to rest in the south ditch east of the intersection,” stated a news release from the Livingston County Coroner’s office.
The semi driver was not injured and no information on the other driver has been released.
Police closed the intersection for investigation and recovery and the scene was cleared around 11:40 a.m. with the roadway reopening.
