A man was taken to the Woodford County Jail over the weekend after a reported domestic situation on north Pine Street in El Paso.

Woodford County Sheriff’s Police say reports indicated Derrico Quinn displayed a handgun and discharged one round from the pistol in the direction of a woman, who was not injured and was able to escape.

Quinn was barricaded in the single-family residence still believed to be in possession of the firearm. A perimeter was established by police to contain Quinn who was later taken into custody without incident.

The Central Illinois Emergency Response Team responded along with El Paso Police, Eureka Police and Woodford County deputies.

Quinn was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Woodford County detectives were still on the scene Saturday with additional charges possible, according to Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword.
