More released on fatal McLean County wreck

More has been released on a collision with multiple fatalities that occurred earlier in the week near Cooksville.


The McLean County Coroner’s Office reports Beth Brucker, 58, of Ellsworth and Hui-Lan Chen Chiang, 82, of Millbrae, California were pronounced dead at the scene. Brucker was the driver and sole occupant of a mid-size SUV while Chiang was the rear occupant of a passenger van. Both reportedly died from multiple blunt injuries due to the SUV and min-van collision.


A third person has since been pronounced dead in connection with the accident – and 86-year-old man from California who was a front seat occupant in the van.


The accident occurred around 2:57 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Route 9 and 2600 East Road near Cooksville in McLean County.


Responding agencies included the McLean County Sheriff’s office, Illinois State Police, Ellsworth Fire, Cooksville Fire, LeRoy Ambulance, Gibson Area EMS and Bloomington Fire.


The incident is under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.
