Thomas Scott Glendenning, 91, of Bloomington formerly of Forrest passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at his residence in Bloomington.
Cremation rites have been accorded with private services held at a future date. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Illinois Wesleyan University General Fund https://www.iwu.edu/giving/how/memorial-etc.html
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury will oversee arrangements.
Mr. Glendenning was born on September 29, 1934, in Rockford; the son of George and Alfhild (Anderson) Glendenning. He married Joan Honegger on August 26, 1962, in Bloomington. His wife Joan survives in Bloomington.
Other survivors include two daughters; Ellen (Mark) Tuttle, of New Rochelle, NY; and Lisa (John) Doherty, of Gilberts, IL; four grandchildren, Dylan Tuttle, Brady Tuttle, Hannah Doherty, and Alyson Doherty.
His parents, two brothers and one infant son, Chad Glendenning preceded him in death.
Tom proudly served our country in the United States Army as part of operation Project Paper Clip. He received his bachelor’s degree in fine arts at Illinois Wesleyan in 1960 where he met his future wife and partner of 63 years.
Tom had many interests and hobbies including growing prize-winning roses, listening to opera, and tracking agriculture commodities and stocks. Tom will fondly be remembered by family and friends for his stories about his overseas service in the military and his one-of-a-kind personality.
