Richard L. Stover, 73, Pontiac, died at 11:46 am Friday, November 14, 2025 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.


Cremation rites have been accorded by Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.  Richard will be interred next to his parents at the Chatsworth Cemetery in Chatsworth, IL.  A graveside service with military rites will be held at a later date.


Richard was born June 20, 1952, in Kankakee, IL, to Orville R. and Irene E. (Swan) Stover.  

He is survived by one brother, Roy D. Stover of Pontiac and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 


He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Raymond Stover.

Richard was a graduate of Tri-Point High School class of 1972.  After High School he joined the United States Army and served his country for 12 years.  He spent most of his time in the service in Germany.  After service he worked in the farming and fertilizer business.  For may years he worked for the VA transporting veterans to doctor’s appointments.  


He loved helping people.  Richard enjoyed playing cards with his three brothers.  Richard was a man of faith.  His religion was foremost in his life.  Richard attended several churches in the Pontiac area.  Richard was a good man with an impish sense of humor.  He was very honest and loyal to his friends and a kind soul.  Richard will be missed by many.  Any memorials can be made to Futures Unlimited in Pontiac, IL.
