A heat light was likely the source of a fire late Tuesday morning which destroyed a small shed between Weston and Pontiac.
Chenoa firefighters, Livingston County Sheriff’s Police and SELCAS ambulance personnel responded to the scene at Livingston County Roads 1000 North and 1500 East.
Some rabbits and a duckling were reportedly lost in the fire and other ducks made it out. No human injuries were reported.
A passerby heading to Fairbury saw smoke in the distance and discovered the building was on fire when they got closer. The homeowner was alerted and they tried to rescue as many animals as they could.
Smoke was visible from as far away as Chenoa and Route 24. The structure was a total loss.
