The Yost House will also be the location of a very special program put on by The Extension Office Master Gardener's organization. You will be able to practice yoga and enjoy a sensory experience at Petals and Poses on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Catherine V. Yost House Museum!
There will be a guided yoga class, and the Livingston, McLean and Woodford County Master Gardeners will be leading a sensory walk through the gardens. You can also take a tour of the museum throughout the afternoon!Sign up for any of the events at go.illinois.edu/PetalsandPoses.
Each of the museums offers visitors a different perspective on life in Pontiac from the mid 19th through the mid 20th Century. The oldest remaining brick home in Pontiac, The Jones House is renovated and furnished with a variety of donated antiques. The Strevell House, visited by Abraham Lincoln is furnished as he may have seen it, The Yost House built in 1898 is furnished with all original possessions of the Yost Family. It shows how one family lived and furnished their home. It is displayed as it may have been in the first quarter of the 20th Century and features many paintings by the home's namesake artist.
