Bloomington Police have announced July enforcement statistics which included two impaired driving arrests, including alcohol and cannabis-related incidents, and 16 speeding citations.
The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High and Get a DUI,” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns ran from June 20 through July 7.
Authorities in Bloomington say during one of the stops, a driver fled on foot while carrying a handgun. The loaded firearm was recovered during the incident. The driver was on parole at the time and had his parole revoked and was later arrested on multiple offenses.
Law enforcement throughout the state participated in the statewide effort to get drunk, high and drugged drivers off the road while encouraging seat belt use.
