Motorcyclist critically injured in wreck

A motorcycle driver is in critical condition following a wreck just south of Eureka in Woodford County at State Route 117 and County Road 500 North.

The Woodford County Sheriff’s Department reports the motorcycle and a pickup truck pulling a trailer were both northbound on Route 117 when the truck pulling the trailer stopped in the lane of traffic attempting to turn into a field entrance.

While stopped, the motorcycle reportedly rear-ended the truck and the motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle and taken to a Peoria hospital in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation and further details may be released as they become available, according to Woodford County Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword.
