James “Jim” Billingsley, 84, of Colfax, passed way on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Goldwater Nursing Home, Bloomington. 


His funeral will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 21, 2025, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.


Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Sunday, July 20,2025, at the funeral home and Monday from 10-10:45am.


Memorials may be made to the family where they will collectively send the memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.


Jim was born to Denver C. and Edith (Hunt) Billingsley at Mt. Hermon, KY on January 27, 1941. 


He married Diane Rippel on September 28, 1963, in Lexington. She survives.


Also surviving are their two sons, Matthew (Joan) and Curtis (Trina); grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren and Zachary and Sydney; five great-grandchildren; three nieces, sister-in-law, Karen Schultz and honorary grandchildren, Cameron Garrett and Pauline Ferguson.


Preceding him in death are his parents, sister, Cletra (Morris) Thomas, brother Troy and his father-in-law and mother-in-law and his best buddy, Rick Hammond.


Jim is an Octavia High School graduate and wore many hats during his lifetime. He worked for Anchor Grain/Alliance Grain for 45 years, farmed, was a Stine Seed Company dealer, substitute bus driver for Ridgeview School District, volunteer fireman and Cub Scout and 4-H Leader. He is a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church. He was given the opportunity of his life-long dream to farm in 1979 which continued until August of 2021.
