Obituary: Jensen

Janice Jensen, 87, of Piper City, passed away at 6:47pm, December 29, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chatsworth. Pastor Richard Likeness will be officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 am, Monday, January 5, 2026, also at the church. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chatsworth or Chatsworth American Legion.

Janice was born February 12 1938, in Chatsworth, the daughter of Paul and Edna (Lee) Gillett. She first married Ronald Schilz and later married Peter Jensen. They both preceded her in death.

Surviving are her son, Karl Schilz of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Warren (Melanie) Gillett of Fairbury, Anita Johnson of Romeoville, Marlene (Russell Tongate) Fuoss of Fairbury, and Darlene (Jim) Kratz of Rochester; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Kevin and Brian Schilz and sister, Verna Moulton.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chatsworth and the Chatsworth American Legion Auxiliary.

Janice enjoyed bowling and had many artistic talents in macramé, ceramic figurines, and embroidery.
