Pontiac Police have made numerous arrests of individuals suspected of statewide ATM burglaries.

A recent crime known as “ATM Jackpotting” is impacting many areas nationwide and involves individuals gaining unauthorized access to an ATM and stealing all of its contents.

“A local bank was a victim of this criminal act in the recent past,” said a news release from Pontiac Police. “Other failed attempts have been made in our jurisdiction as well.”

Pontiac Police observed a group of occupied vehicles parked at a local gas station on Friday and an officer identified a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in an ATM burglary in Carbondale. Items found in the vehicles included an ATM key, hotspot device, ATM components, face masks, gloves and other burglary tools.

Seven individuals were taken into custody, according to police, with six taken to the Livingston County Jail and one who was caring for a minor child was released with a notice to appear.

Those arrested for possession of burglary tools included: Cesar Acosta Guzman, Erick A. Montoya, Yonayker Jose Maveres Barreto, Carlos M Yajure Garcia, Angel M. Guevara, Jesus Rosendo Gomez and Jossynest Erlimar Naruyez Blanco.

Local departments are working with the FBI to determine of the individuals are involved in other ATM burglaries.
