The community swimming pool was discussed by members of the Chenoa City Council this week and it could be costly to get repairs done.
Mayor David Shane says at this point, in order to get the pool fixed properly, it is going to cost about $1.5 million. The bid now is $1.3 million but by the time they get to it, Shane expects the $1.5 million figure.
“We are working on fundraising for that,” the mayor said.
Aside from community support, funding could come from grants as well.
Also at the recent Chenoa City Council meeting, Joe Russow of Farnsworth talked about MFT money. A bid for concrete between Route 24 and Hoselton Drive came in higher than expected but the council ended up accepting the bid. They are going to take some of the overage out of TIF funds.
Repairing the north wall of City Hall was another talking point along with a TIF lease agreement which was changed. The city extended it.
Council members discussed putting a digital sign at the four-way stop at Routes 24 and 66 but they have to look into approval from the Illinois Department of Transportation first. It is about $35,000 but tourism funds can be used, according to Mayor Shane.
