Rapp achieves goal of winning Master Showmanship

This year’s Livingston County Fair king also found success out in the show ring.

Cole Rapp of the Wide Awake Timberline 4-H Club won Master Showmanship on Saturday at the fair. He described the feeling as surreal, unlike anything else.

“It feels awesome,” Rapp told the media following the event. “This has been a goal of mine for the last five years.”

Rapp is a cattle guy but had to also learn to show hogs and sheep. He is excited about heading to compete at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield next month and says he will give it his all.

Sarah Parker of the Tractor Wheels 4-H Club was runner up. She has past experience showing pigs, cattle and sheep.

“This morning, I was a little nervous but the pigs went better than I thought,” she said.

Parker has also done general projects for 4-H when she was younger.

Division winners from Saturday included:

Swine – Kinsley Hamilton of Pontiac Power Rockets and Sarah Parker of Tractor Wheels.

Sheep – Theo Angus of Tractor Wheels and Olivia Masching of Pontiac Power Rockets.

Beef – Cole Rapp of Wide Awake Timberline and Kirin Black of Wide Awake Timberline.

Judges for the event were Sawyer Schlipf, Kinsey Kraft, Reed Baer and Grace Lemenager.
