A registered sex offender was arrested by Pontiac Police last week during a high school cheerleading event.

Authorities received a complaint about an individual possibly taking inappropriate photos at the event last weekend at Pontiac Township High School, according to a press release provided by Pontiac Police. Officers arrived and learned a spectator had observed the man taking zoomed-in photos of cheerleaders.

“It was determined the individual had no connection to any of the participants in the event,” stated the press release.

The individual was identified as Timothy N. Jenkins. After providing information to dispatch, officers learned Jenkins was a registered sex offender in Wisconsin. Jenkins reportedly confirmed he was required to register for life. He was arrested for being on school property as a sex offender.

Police say multiple items of evidence were seized from Jenkins, including numerous SD cards and electronic devices. Jenkins was taken to the Livingston County Jail and the police investigation continues.
